Unlock Your Superpower: How Emotional Intelligence and Authenticity Lead to True Success<\/h1>\n

When we become \u201cadults,\u201d we go out into the world and hope to make our mark. Most of us want to live \u201csuccessful\u201d lives; we want to be financially stable, respected in our work, and enjoy loving relationships with our family and friends. We often have an image of what that successful person<\/strong> looks like instead of thinking about what our superpower really is.<\/p>\n

What would they wear? How would they carry themselves? How would people act around them?<\/p>\n

As you paint that visual of your \u201csuccessful self,\u201d how does that compare to what you\u2019d see if you looked in the mirror right now?<\/p>\n

Sadly, most people wouldn\u2019t find much similarity. Perhaps they\u2019re thinking something along the lines of\u2026 \u201cWell \u2013 I\u2019d have to be wearing my power suit, with my hair and makeup on point. And have my PhD. Then I could be the future me that I envisioned.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

We often think about our external factors \u2013 where did I go to school? How many degrees do I have? What awards have I won? Where am I an \u201cexpert\u201d? <\/em>These are common questions in today\u2019s workplace.<\/h3>\n

However, since starting my business, I learned that those factors had nothing <\/u>to do with my success. It wasn\u2019t until I started to identify and own my gifts that I realized my greatest qualities have lived within me since my earliest memories.<\/p>\n

My greatest gift is my awareness of and connection to others\u2019 emotional experiences. They call it \u201cemotional intelligence\u201d these days, but throughout my childhood and my young adulthood, I was always told it was being \u201ctoo sensitive\u201d and \u201ca cry baby\u201d, that I ought to \u201clearn how\u00a0to separate more\u201d and \u201clet things go\u201d. Those messages plagued my life. To the point that I felt a burden that weighed on me every day.<\/p>\n

Why couldn\u2019t I just care less?<\/em> I mean, everyone else around me seemed to be fine with that.<\/p>\n

In my previous career, I worked in the nonprofit sector and I soared. I developed national best practice models, drove record-breaking increases in philanthropy, and built a stellar reputation. How do you think I made all of that happen? Emotional intelligence.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The difference between me and my counterparts was rooted in our fundamental approach to people<\/em>. I thought about how people felt when they got an email from me, when they saw my name on their caller ID, when I asked them for a donation and when I asked them about their lives. Whereas most of my peers wanted to get straight to the point, I wanted to enjoy the journey of getting there together.<\/u><\/p>\n

My greatest burden for 30 years was finally realized as my greatest gift. It was my superpower.<\/h4>\n

My business, lifestyle, and purpose is all grounded in the understanding of how I developed my sensitivities \u2013 from challenging life experiences \u2013 and how they made me special. I understand how to be empathetic and care deeply for others because I was know how it feels to not have my voice heard.<\/p>\n

We all have these gifts. But sometimes they can disguised as sorrow, pain, and burden. Other times they\u2019re obvious to everyone but yourself!<\/p>\n

Ask yourself these six questions. They\u2019re designed to help you reflect on your life experiences and how they may have shaped the unique superpower gifts you bring to the world:<\/h4>\n

  1. What parts of your personality make you unique?<\/li>\n
  2. What activities in life bring you the most joy?<\/li>\n
  3. When have you felt \u2018different\u2019 and how did you handle it?<\/li>\n
  4. What\u2019s something you gained a deep knowledge of through life experience?<\/li>\n
  5. When was there a time you walked into a situation as one person, and left as another?<\/li>\n
  6. Have you ever had someone tell you that you\u2019ve inspired them, even if you were just doing something you considered \u201cnormal\u201d?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If you\u2019re having trouble finding an answer, try asking someone you trust to help.<\/h4>\n

    They don\u2019t have to be close to you – there are many times in life when an objective perspective can offer helpful insights.<\/p>\n

    Remember, when you\u2019re able to show up as your authentic self<\/a> every day, you are activating your superpowers and owning your gifts. You\u2019ll live a more rewarding life, and this will be the source of your motivation to reach the peak of whatever you define as success.<\/p>\n
