When everything I know to be “normal” all of a sudden goes away, I find myself falling into a deep place of reflection. Asking myself questions like… What does this new normal mean? How will it impact my day-to-day? How will it impact the people in my life? How can I be intentional with my energy? Where do I need to be more thoughtful? What will be different when this is over? What have I learned about myself so far?<\/em><\/p>\n And on most days, that reflection leads to immense gratitude. Gratitude for the little things that are the big things, the people I’m surrounded by and the deep inner work that’s lead me to be here now.<\/p>\n When you take time to think about the current reality, does it take you to a place of fear and anxiety OR love and possibility? Are you able to find gratitude with ease or is it more challenging? Perhaps it’s somewhere in between or on both ends of the spectrum depending on the moment? If any of that resonates, you’re officially and beautifully human. Meeting yourself exactly where you are is exactly where to start. And every starting point is perfect.<\/p>\n During my reflection on the way I’m showing up in the world, I find myself recognizing the extreme privilege I have in this moment of global crisis…<\/p>\n I have a business that’s financially stable. My home is safe and brings me peace. My partner is the person I want to spend the most time with. We are both healthy, as is our family. And we don’t have school-aged children who are at home with us while we discover our new normal.<\/p>\n In my reflection I know that’s not the case of most people. Even if ONE of these factors were the opposite, I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to find a sense of calm as readily as I can now.<\/p>\n In some of my reflections, I’ve drifted to thinking of my own childhood and how terrified I would have been if I was left home alone with my father for an extended period of quarantine. And those memories immediately hit me with an almost paralyzing pain for all the children who are in that situation right now. Those are feelings I can recall with sad ease, too. And they push my heart to a place of wanting to use my healed mind, body and spirit to lift others who are in pain. While I’m not living through that pain now, I know that when I was,\u00a0 I would have appreciated unconditional support.<\/p>\n So in recognizing my privilege across many dimensions, I have been reflecting more deeply on how I can tap into my core values to support others.
