Discover the Power of Personal Freedom: Define, Align, and Thrive<\/strong><\/h1>\n

We just celebrated the 4th of July here in the USA, which made me reflect on the value of Freedom.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re reading this, there’s a good chance that, like me, one of your top core values is Freedom.<\/p>\n

Why?<\/p>\n

After reviewing the data from over 3,000 people who have taken our core values quiz<\/a>, Freedom was the third highest-ranked core value behind Learning and Growth.<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n

I was not surprised by this because most humans want to be free. While we have that in common, your personal definition of Freedom is likely unique.<\/p>\n

That is what is so great about YOUR core values. They are YOURS to define because your distinct life experiences have shaped them. That is why we don\u2019t give you prescribed definitions when you receive your results from our core values quiz.<\/a><\/p>\n

So, how did Freedom become one of my top core values?<\/h4>\n

I had a milestone moment in my life when my freedom of choice was taken away unexpectedly when I was younger. I still vividly remember how it felt so jarring in my mind, body and spirit. My coping mechanism was to shut down, dissociate and numb myself. It was one of those situations where I was forced to do something I didn\u2019t want to do but couldn\u2019t do anything about. It felt like the beginning of me giving up my freedom and everything inside me knew it was terrible, and I knew I never wanted to feel that way again.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t realize it then, but that moment instilled my core value of Freedom. From that day forward, I never wanted to feel trapped without a choice again. In learning what it wasn\u2019t, I was driven to learn what Freedom truly meant for me.<\/p>\n

Since that day, I can see how having the Freedom to choose has driven so many of my decisions and caused me a lot of stress and overwhelm when I felt trapped.<\/p>\n

That is what Freedom means to me – having a choice in every moment.<\/p>\n

When you have the Freedom to choose, life feels great; when you don\u2019t, life feels stifling. That awareness can help shape your decisions because you want life to feel good! Right?<\/h4>\n

\"Freedom<\/p>\n

My value of Freedom was instilled in me because I felt like it was NOT to be free, and I never wanted that again. Sometimes, values get instilled in you from experiencing something you DON’T want so you can learn what you DO want.<\/p>\n

As MaryBeth often says, \u201clearning what it isn\u2019t is just as valuable as learning what it is.\u201d<\/h4>\n

However, values can be instilled in you by also experiencing what you do want.<\/p>\n

For example, my dad also helped instill the value of Freedom in me regarding financial freedom. He taught me how to save money and plan from a young age. One of the first books he gave me was The Richest Man in Babylon (on our summer reading list<\/a>), which taught me the value of saving money. Then, when I got my first job as a paperboy when I was twelve, he and my mom helped me set up jars for short-, mid-, and long-term savings.<\/p>\n

Learning how to create financial freedom has given me Freedom throughout my whole life because it allows me to make choices without having to worry about money. I don\u2019t have to trade my time for money, giving me the freedom to do what I want.<\/p>\n

\nI still have my childhood long-term savings jar as an adult today.<\/em><\/p>\n

Those lessons and values have stayed with me my whole life. They have shaped who I am today. And I have learned that the more aligned I stay with and activate my values daily, the better my life feels.<\/p>\n

And I know that is the same for you. Even though you have different values instilled in you by different life experiences and influencers, when you know, own, and live YOUR unique values, stress and overwhelm are swept away and replaced by well-being in alignment.<\/p>\n

The ultimate Freedom is to choose to live your values each day\u2014YOUR values, not someone else’s. And I want you to experience that Freedom, too. Because I know how amazing life can feel when you\u2019re free to be authentically you.<\/h5>\n

One of my favorite ways to do this is to audit my life through the lens of my values. I take my core values and look at where they are currently being activated and where they are being violated. I then make a plan to increase the experiences that activate my values and remove the experiences that violate them.<\/p>\n

This is a simple practice that increases awareness every time I feel overwhelmed or stressed. Each time, it creates so much more Freedom in my life, and I know it will in yours, too.<\/p>\n

When you can free yourself from violating your values and choose to do things that activate them, you will feel the most grateful to be alive and experience a life filled with joy. You will start and end your day feeling filled with energy and not drained.<\/h5>\n
