How to Live Your Core Values While Balancing Aspirational Growth for True Alignment<\/h1>\n

We recently received a question about aspirational values \ud83d\udc8c that got me reflecting deeply, and I think it\u2019s one you can probably relate to:<\/p>\n

\u201cHow do I live my core values while also wanting to lean into aspirational values? One of my core values is growth, but sometimes it feels like I\u2019m trying to \u2018be more\u2019\u2014is it because of whispers from others, or is it about limiting beliefs? Am I chasing something I don\u2019t actually want?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Wow, right? Such powerful questions! I love that they are asking the hard, introspective questions you often avoid because it feels so challenging to figure out. Constantly second-guessing and judging yourself in the process.<\/p>\n

It got me thinking about my own journey and how you can sometimes feel a tug-of-war between who you are and who you want to be.<\/p>\n

I sure know that feeling\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

My Inner Tug of War<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Years ago, I was deeply invested in the value of Success.<\/em> Everything I did was motivated by wanting to climb the ladder and get recognition through promotions, titles, and awards.<\/a> And be seen as a “successful” rockstar by others.<\/p>\n

But in my mind I had a constant screaming whisper<\/em> that told me I should<\/em> be doing more, be better, and reach for higher goals. That I was a loser if I didn\u2019t give 110%, and I could outperform everyone around me by throwing every ounce of myself into everything, I said eagerly yes to even when my body was saying no.<\/p>\n

It was exhausting. And worse? It wasn\u2019t even my voice I was listening to.<\/h5>\n

It was the voice of my abusive father that I\u2019d taken on as my inner critic even though we were estranged for years. HIS definition of Success was what was driving me, even though it was the complete opposite of my authentic self.<\/p>\n

Today, I define Success as having a consistent sense of Authenticity, Inner Harmony and Freedom. Instead, they were the echoes of my father and society\u2019s idea of Success, and I was burning myself out trying to achieve them.<\/p>\n

When I finally paused, I realized something: I didn\u2019t actually want the hustle and grind lifestyle that came with the kind of Success I was chasing. I wanted the slow down the f* down kind of Success that comes with ease and grace.<\/p>\n

That moment of clarity changed everything. And I want that for you too!<\/p>\n

So, getting back to the original inquiry, how do you balance your authentic core values with the desire to grow into your aspirational values (aka the ones you wished drove you each day)?<\/p>\n

Tip #1: \ud83d\udd0d Examine Your Aspirational Values<\/strong><\/h3>\n

First and foremost, look closely at the values you\u2019re aspiring to. Are they truly yours<\/em> or what you think you\u2019re “supposed” to care about?<\/p>\n

For example, your core value might be Growth,<\/em> but if it\u2019s constantly making you feel like you\u2019re chasing an unattainable standard, it\u2019s worth questioning whether that growth is coming from a place of self-love or external pressure.<\/p>\n

Ask yourself:<\/strong><\/p>\n
