I had so much body tension.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been an athlete my entire life. I need to move to stay sane. But after a debilitating back injury, doctors said I\u2019d likely need pain medication and multiple surgeries just to move. They told me I might never live the life I envisioned for myself again.<\/p>\n<p>My life as I knew it felt over. But deep down, I refused to accept that reality.<\/p>\n<p>That diagnosis hit hard, but it also sparked something inside me. That injury became my wake-up call.<\/p>\n<p>It reminded me of a promise I made as a kid after seeing my grandmother lose her vitality, debilitated in a hospital bed.<\/p>\n<h4>I swore I\u2019d do whatever it took to keep my body free, healthy, and strong.<\/h4>\n<p>I vowed to prioritize my health. But it took my injury to fully understand what that meant.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward, and that injury didn\u2019t just impact my body; it changed my mind. I realized that freedom isn\u2019t just about being physically fit\u2014it\u2019s about being emotionally and spiritually aligned. Health wasn\u2019t about being the strongest or fastest. It was about freedom\u2014freedom in my body, mind, and spirit.<\/p>\n<p>And the result?<\/p>\n<p>When I first went to the doctor when I had my injury and they took an x-ray, they told me I had the spine of a 70-year-old and no cartilage in my lower back.<\/p>\n<p>Then, after healing my mind, body, and spirit through holistic methods, I went back for another x-ray, and my doctor couldn\u2019t believe what he was seeing. My cartilage had fully regrown. He had never seen that before and thought the only way to \u201cfix\u201d me was with surgical methods.<\/p>\n<p>This experience taught me the power of tension\u2014how it builds up in the body and blocks your ability to think clearly, connect deeply, and easily move through life.<\/p>\n<h4>Your body is like a map, constantly sending you signals about where you\u2019re stuck, stressed, or out of alignment.<\/h4>\n<p>When you feel tightness in your shoulders, it might be a sign you\u2019re carrying emotional burdens that aren\u2019t yours. A stiff neck could reflect overthinking or resistance to change. Hips that feel locked up? That could be unprocessed fear or sadness.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not just about the physical\u2014it\u2019s about what your body is trying to tell you.<\/p>\n<p>As I learned, \u201cYour issues live in your tissues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That realization set me on a path of deep healing, not just physically but emotionally, mentally and spiritually. And if you\u2019re not actively working to release it, that tension builds up.<\/p>\n<p>Take a moment right now. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and scan your body. Where are you holding tension?<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it\u2019s your shoulders, neck, or lower back. What worked for me are gentle, consistent practices that anyone can do, no equipment needed. These are great ways to start your new year.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few to get you started:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Joint Circles:<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Gently rotate your neck, shoulders, wrists, and ankles. Let your arms swing gently from side to side, following your body\u2019s natural rhythm.
