To build a life on our legacy ranch nestled in the Bitterroot Mountains of Idaho. I dreamed of waking up every morning to the sunrise, foraging, fishing and growing a bountiful garden that provides for us year-round. To heal and expand with the medicine of my horses and share those gifts with those called to receive.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ci3.googleusercontent.com\/meips\/ADKq_Na_i8dup6mfyxAIl93ucwfRREFrKtEMUJsnbPDNgERDCmFi0AAGNusXwN1KUAk0X9XJbbOn2SOHISO5OnIOwDNdN6CHj6Za-Ewr5kDgmPww6BQcCjkulVdbMww1oI0XPk8FmBVLH8GXkiH0AkdQ1iU4FiknlLt15Z0=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/5d0a4840c5dd6be7963fa35c3\/images\/07320a35-31c8-4036-ab5a-6486a7c29490.png\" width=\"353\" height=\"264\" \/><br \/>\n<em>(The view I always dreamed of calling home)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I knew I wanted to disconnect from technology to reconnect to my humanity and teach others to do the same through immersive retreats where nature is our co-facilitator.<\/p>\n<p>The vision of returning to the land, activating my cowgirl soul, and living in unity with nature will become a reality 2 weeks from now.<\/p>\n<p>25 years ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n<p>This retirement dream is now our real life. Not \u201cone day when we\u2019ve figured it all out\u201d. But today, when we figure it out moment by moment.<\/p>\n<p>You see, I was born in Washington DC <em>(yes, really)<\/em> &#8211; right off Logan Circle on Rhode Island Avenue. The city was what I knew from day 1. And what\u2019s been my norm now, living in downtown Baltimore City for 16 years and even having a 2+ year stint in Manhattan for grad school. City life suited me. And truly reflected my values for the majority of my life.<\/p>\n<p>But something changed on a cellular level when I started to go on 10-day solo retreats to my great-uncle\u2019s ranch after my mom inherited it in my late 20s. I had been visiting since I was a little girl, but never on my own. Being there alone was a \u201cbig girl\u201d move and showed me just how differently life can be lived.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXcsD4yBfbkMlKRySaX3K5u0t68ZOi0DOV60vPUkrei2G2iVaVbGHEsUjaBOYcQL1jK_CYnzZNggdPfyrN9_Tpw0J-DOxUC5h7RFHPFdyjASj22Moo6Y8xWBa338r9I1wnsHHXO-Gg?key=7Maaf9W036s15oL7gO0h4oa6\" width=\"353\" height=\"273\" \/><br \/>\n<em>(My first visit to my great uncle\u2019s ranch. First sweet taste of being a cowgirl.)<\/em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On 100 acres of paradise, you can hear nothing but the sounds of nature. Everything moves slower by design. And you can\u2019t help but have jaw-dropping encounters with animals, plants, and the majesty of the mountains.<\/p>\n<p>It was a place I went to for respite. A retreat for my soul. And I made a promise to make it my home one day.<\/p>\n<p>While it seemed like I was talking about this vision forever, I\u2019m now realizing how quickly it\u2019s all come together. By simply choosing it now and moving forward one step at a time, without judgment of pace.<\/p>\n<p>As I\u2019m closing up my time in Baltimore, I\u2019m prioritizing two things: people and property. Ensuring I invest quality time with the people who have invested in me. And getting our city rowhome in tip-top shape for our tenants.<\/p>\n<p>Those are the only real deadlines right now. Everything else is just a story.<\/p>\n<p>While I\u2019m in this reflective state of closing one chapter to start another, I\u2019ve been thinking about what I\u2019ll miss in Baltimore and what I can\u2019t wait to be complete with. There\u2019s a real duality.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>\ud83e\udec2<strong> I\u2019ll deeply miss my chosen family in Baltimore. And I am so excited to be back living with our boys in Idaho. <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXeLXrsSQIp4efJoSdDb9yncAzL0YJVoloT-HOqfA0UzkP3329iTUD6NG7zAJBaZpGohZmpFoe-N9xQH0ox4Fjiga1w6gX_W2jiA6NL2e9C8uQu1E1C_IH_fCdw6qtiEQQKiYu6i-w?key=7Maaf9W036s15oL7gO0h4oa6\" width=\"350\" height=\"287\" \/><br \/>\n<em>(Our sweet, sensitive 3-year-old boys, Norby the Mustang and Ollie the Fjord)<\/em><\/p>\n<h4><strong>\ud83c\udf7d\ufe0f I\u2019ll wish I could have delicious food from one of my favorite city spots. And I feel expanded when envisioning my first meal made from harvesting my vegetable garden.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXdkomc_PtHiRaIrh-svrWQlT85wCXj5w4qYP_myDLF5duup3cAe_J0CpY4Mt1FyAdswbSgqStIzTBYmUOhl6IpnWrQZ0EFdNikuxgGBTIqWFG1wBUP2s3ZxYMrZwwhQySLV9NWa?key=7Maaf9W036s15oL7gO0h4oa6\" width=\"351\" height=\"264\" \/><br \/>\n<em>(Our fancy farewell dinner at WyeOak)<\/em><\/p>\n<h4><strong>\ud83d\udec0 I\u2019ll miss having a spa-like bathroom with a soaking tub, steam shower, and bidet. And I\u2019m grateful I have access to a natural hot spring to soak in.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXdzZX-oUhusbciMrEbyYt73G6FHxDqf3rV64BlHsKdXgdWtYxPUNd0nC-CLEjYqWxKBBtI2KpJ-ZGhuXMell5c7tCtJjE9N8wj9khi2zBHpBZwWBbjolMdUvz3LdN31qslikry_ZQ?key=7Maaf9W036s15oL7gO0h4oa6\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" \/><br \/>\n<em>(enjoying the natural hot springs)<\/em><\/p>\n<h4><strong>\ud83e\uddc7 I\u2019ll miss meeting friends for brunch or catching the latest show together. And I\u2019ll cherish cowgirl adventures where we catch the show that the sun, moon, and the stars give us.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXdIFceWO09ireVaHvwJH6VrG6p7iZAs8eg1rxX2uUgd_EKSSGv6ikGtkilfxI65yxvHQP8MbDvdxCHaUHRwZKHUBi8pNFWxCHN05MYd5hx3_nTT5qaRf-mKnJONKnlm2rUmitreDQ?key=7Maaf9W036s15oL7gO0h4oa6\" width=\"352\" height=\"264\" \/><br \/>\n<em>(A day ride on the Continental Divide with my badass cowgirls and their steeds)<\/em><\/p>\n<h4><strong>\ud83d\udca7 I\u2019ll wish I could run the dishwasher, do unlimited laundry or take a long, hot shower. And I\u2019m looking forward to watching James in action as he carries 100% of our water from the natural spring to our tiny home.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXc02ZartWKWm7UoIqTiFZyaUnEoO2GmyLaY8XvtbPbvvuNF8_rHkyvZAYaJqvxtGHI_RPJ7OsuOrv-BBX57A8yW8xzuCeIeYcAoJjjwb73ueXc9Ik7tRYYlhXjl3nl7oFIIcB2clA?key=7Maaf9W036s15oL7gO0h4oa6\" width=\"350\" height=\"467\" \/><br \/>\n<em>(James doing his thing! He carried 9 TONS, (aka the weight of 2 elephants \ud83d\udc18) the last 6 months we were there)<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>This transition out of city life and out west for good feels like the most natural and authentic shift we could take in knowing and living our values.<\/p>\n<p>And as beautiful as these pictures are, there\u2019s still much unknown, loads to fear and fixate on, and tons of evidence that we don\u2019t know what we\u2019re doing. \ud83d\ude33<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been able to listen to those worries with love, forgive myself for focusing on fear, and choose again.
