I asked for help, but when things weren\u2019t done exactly the way I pictured them, I could feel frustration rising in me. I didn\u2019t say anything. I didn\u2019t communicate what I was feeling. I just shut down, took over, and started doing it myself.<\/p>\n<p>You could feel the energy shift in the room immediately.<\/p>\n<p>And afterwards I had that familiar moment of reflection:<br \/>\nWhy did I just do that?<br \/>\nWhy did I need it to go my exact way?<br \/>\nWhy couldn\u2019t I simply say what I was feeling?<\/p>\n<h3><strong>That\u2019s the thing about subconscious behavior.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t usually announce itself.<br \/>\nIt just shows up.<\/p>\n<p>It shows up in your tone of voice.<br \/>\nThe tension in your body.<br \/>\nThe shutdown.<br \/>\nThe snap.<br \/>\nThe retreat.<br \/>\nThe story.<br \/>\nThe pattern.<\/p>\n<p>And then later, when the moment has passed, you\u2019re left trying to understand why you reacted the way you did.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ci3.googleusercontent.com\/meips\/ADKq_NYWr53-dpbVW1uDYoD832gnStVLcH8z3bTeTivGhSbOuC1hX4oMgOowMiicSeLukx6PvIWWjc2mePX8ph51Payk6r_O5EgxKMipX6RUCZvVyY5rbmmOiWcFt-KI-4edSgXgCB0D_AnmAIKpphKV78dl59kaeOREPJ8=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/5d0a4840c5dd6be7963fa35c3\/images\/67a32c9c-c1e6-047b-9583-f7498aa7e130.gif\" width=\"353\" height=\"353\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What I\u2019ve been noticing in myself is that when I start telling myself a story about how something should go, I become more rigid. And when reality doesn\u2019t match that internal story, frustration comes in fast. Then, instead of using my voice, I go inward. I get quiet. I tighten up. I disconnect.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s one of the subconscious patterns I\u2019ve been working to unlearn.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>And I\u2019ll tell you this honestly: unlearning subconscious behavior is hard.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Not because you don\u2019t want to change.<br \/>\nNot because you aren\u2019t aware.<br \/>\nNot because you\u2019re not trying.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard because so much of your day is run by learned patterns that fire before your conscious mind even has time to step in.<\/p>\n<p>Your brain loves familiar patterns. Nearly half of what you do each day happens on autopilot. That\u2019s why subconscious behaviors can be hard to unlearn.
